Easter Sunday

“This isn’t the time for the church to be cast down and sad.  This isn’t the time for the church to be silent.  The church ought to be happy.  The church ought to be excited.  The church ought to be filled with the spirit of God.  Because it is on Easter Sunday that Christianity is celebrated.  That is the day that Christianity separated itself from all the other religions, from all the other faiths, societies, and all the other cultures.”  Words spoken by Pastor Josh as he opened the Sunday service in a previous Easter Sunday sermon.  Timely words that take on more meaning with each passing year.
“Christianity separated itself because the savior is alive.  He once was dead but now he reigns in heaven above.  Thank God that 2,000 years ago the stone was rolled away (Luke 24:2).  Thank God that Jesus got up and walked out of that tomb alive and well.  Thank God that Jesus only needed the tomb for a few days.  It was more like a hotel room and not a home, used for a few days and then ready for someone else.”
“Two thousand years later people are still preaching the story that Jesus is alive.  That he arose victorious over death, hell, and the grave.  This is not the time to get scared about it.  This is not the time to be bashful.  This is the time to stand up and be counted as Christians because God had the power to raise Jesus from the dead.  God had the power to cause the earth to quake and the angels to come and  roll the stone back.”
Matthew 24:27 says, “For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”  Look to the eastern sky, your redemption draweth nigh (Luke 21:28).  “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout…and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air…” (I Thessalonians 4:16,17).  The day is coming.  Be ready for it.
